Kitsap Briefs: Kahn Named to Regional Rugby Team

RUGBY

Kahn Named to Regional Team

Kitsap Rugby Football Union's Jordan Kahn was selected as a member of the 2007 Pacific Northwest Rugby Football senior men's team, the Loggers.

The PNW Loggers are a regionally-based rugby team that consists of players from Washington, Oregon and Idaho and was created to allow the best athletes in the region to compete against other regions. The Loggers play matches in the United States and British Columbia, Canada. The Loggers will begin their spring season on Jan. 18 with a match against the Capilano Premier.

Also, Kitsap Rugby's Oliver Otterbeck played in a qualifying match for the 2007 Rugby World Cup for the Philippines national team in October. Otterbeck was born in Olongopo, Philippines, and played rugby in high school and is Kitsap Rugby's president and captain. He also coached the Kitsap U-19 boys team. Although the Philippines didn't qualify for the World Cup, Otterbeck played in two games against Guam and India.

slammed

Sorry about the dearth of news -- I've been slammed with work.

Things that I do want to get mentioned:

Tonight (and all Thursdays evenings): Off season training at PSNS -- some fitness work followed by touch-rugby (if we have enough people show up).

Saturday: End-of-season social at John Lambert's -- Contact Ollie for details/directions.

Loggers: PNRFU has posted the loggers schedule -- they're changing things this year: tryouts are Jan 6!
