Kitsap Rugby Club Invites Public to USA Rugby National Qualifying Round Tournament, Free of Charge
Come Watch One of America’s Fastest Growing and Most Demanding Sports at the Kitsap Fairgrounds
Seattle WA (April 12, 2010) -- The Pacific Northwest Rugby Football Union (PNRFU) announces the 2009/2010 Division Three Rugby Championships, being held at the Kitsap Fairgrounds and Events Center’s Gordon Field in Bremerton, WA on the weekend of April 24th and 25th, 2010.
PNRFU’s 21-week DIII schedule will culminate in this family-friendly, festival-style, championship rugby tournament. Come out and cheer on your local boys, the Kitsap Renegades!
The event will feature two full days of fifteen-a-side-rugby, with eight teams from throughout Washington and Oregon battling it out in a knockout tournament to determine who advances to USA Rugby’s Sweet 16 Playoffs, in Denver, CO Austin, TX in May.
Saturday features an all-day, four-match, semi-final knockout round. The action starts at 10 am and will be followed by the Finals on Sunday, when all eight teams compete in the tournament’s Shield, Bowl, Plate, and Cup Finals -- with the Cup Champion moving on to represent the Pacific Northwest region nationally.
Fans are encouraged to spend the day, perhaps bring a picnic, and even enjoy a pint in our beer garden. There is plenty of space so bring a blanket or set up your own pop-up canopy. There will also be a kid’s play area, food, and souvenirs available on site.
Tournament Schedule:
Friday: Kickoff Party at MoonDogs, Too, in Port Orchard
Saturday: Knockout round kicks off at 10 AM, followed by the weekend’s primary social event, featuring food, music, and fun at the “BremerDome,” adjacent to the Bremerton Comfort Inn and Suites (the social event is not free -- tickets will be available at the tournament).
Sunday: Tournament Finals kick off about 10 AM. Kitsap Rugby will be hosting it’s 21 and over Wrap Party at Bremerton’s Horse & Cow Bar and Grill later that evening.
The tournament is being hosted by Kitsap’s Olympic Peninsula Sports Union with additional support provided by the Kitsap Public Facilities District and other community, regional, and national sponsors. For more information on this event, visit www.kitsaprugby.org
